My favorite TYPE of inanimate object is a book. I’ve collected so many books on Dante, Italy, and architecture that it isn’t funny anymore. But most of those books are rare/old/leather bound copies of the Divine Comedy, and those are my most treasured items.
But is there ONE object that I love the most? YES. It’s the most sentimental piece of Dante anything that I own. For my genuine love for Dante and his work, my friend Chris Kozak was most gracious in giving me a rare copy of the Inferno in Ukranian. What’s so rare about it is two things: it was illustrated by his own grandfather, George Kozak, but was not completely illustrated. After the drawings of the Simoniacs, Maestro Kozak’s work is missing because he sadly passed on before finishing his work. You guys have no idea the joy I felt simply SEEING this book in front of me. It blew me away. But then to have it given to me as a gift for my Dante-dedication: OH MY GOD. It’s the best gift I’ve ever receieved.
